At Mocha-Doos, we roast our coffee right here in Lawrence, Kansas so you know it's fresh!
Those other guys? Well let's see, first it is roasted in some distant place, then it is packaged, and then it sits in a warehouse. Eventually it is shipped via a large truck to a distribution center in another part of the country where it again sits and waits in a warehouse. At some point it begins its journey to the shelves of your favorite store. But let's not forget this is the second or third long trip in a truck. Then it finally hits the backroom of your local grocery store where it sits and waits again. By the time it is on the shelves ready to be sold how much time has passed? A month, maybe two? Some could be over 6 months or more...
And ours? It is roasted in very small batches several times a week. We roast only what we know will sell in a few days, so it leaves the roaster and is ready for brewing the following morning. That trip takes minutes, not months.
